1.KFC was initially known as Sanders Court & Cafe. It was a simple restaurant and café in Kentucky.

2.Colonel Harland David Sanders did a number of jobs before getting famous. Though he worked in the Army, the rank Colonel was conferred to him by the state of Kentucky.

3.The name Kentucky Fried Chicken was changed to KFC to single out the unhealthy word “Fried”.

4.The original KFC recipe is one of the hard kept recipes in the world. A copy of the recipe, signed by Sanders, is held inside a safe inside a vault in KFC's Louisville headquarters. To maintain the secrecy of the recipe, half of it is produced by Griffith Laboratories before it is given to McCormick, who adds the second half.

5.Colonel Sanders used customized pressure cookers to fry the chicken as it reduced the cooking time.

6.By 1963 KFC had turned into the largest fast food chain in the USA.

7.KFC was the first international food chain to operate in China. Currently with 4,500 outlets in China, KFC is the largest fast food chain.

8.Pete Harman is the owner of the first KFC franchise. Harman is the brain behind the Bucket meal and the popular punch line “It’s finger-lickin’ good”.

9.Sanders sold the business in 1964 to a group of investors for $2 million, plus an ongoing salary to remain the face of the brand.
10.In 1976, the Colonel was ranked as the world’s second most recognizable celebrity.
